The Hispanic Chamber of Commerce of Louisiana (HCCL) and Hispanic Chamber of Commerce Young Professionals (HCCLYP) are thrilled to announce a dedicated Scholarship fund to award students of Hispanic heritage who are currently enrolled in an undergraduate institution or technical school their academic expenses and move forward.
Latinos are the largest and most rapidly-growing minority group in the United States, yet they have the lowest college completion rate. While Latino high school graduation rates have improved in the last decade, only 15% of Latino adults hold a bachelor’s degree (The White House Initiative on Educational Excellence for Hispanics, 2014). Louisiana proudly stands as home to the seventh fastest-growing Hispanic population, and the contributions made by these driven, talented, and hardworking students are truly invaluable.
This year, we aim to award $1,000.00 scholarships to deserving Hispanic undergraduate or vocational students who meet the eligibility requirements and who have expressed a strong desire to further their education. To make this happen, we seek support for this vital cause from our community members.
